I’m a passionate social studies teacher with 20 wonderful years in the classroom and 20 years leading our annual middle school history travel program that alternates between Boston, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. I’m a passionate social studies teacher with 20 wonderful years in the classroom and 20 years leading our annual middle school history travel program that alternates between Boston, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. Nothing brings me more joy than watching students’ eyes light up when history steps off the textbook page and becomes real.
I hold a Professional Teaching Certificate and am proud to have earned the Civics Seal of Excellence Certificate, which recognizes my commitment to helping young people truly understand and value American history, government, and civic responsibility. But more than any certificate, it’s the relationships I build with students—and the “aha!” moments we share on these trips—that mean the most to me.
Every year I personally plan and lead these journeys because I believe grades 7-9 is the perfect time to fall in love with history. Whether we’re walking the Freedom Trail in Boston, standing inside the U.S. Capitol in D.C., or quietly reflecting at a national memorial, I love helping students connect the past to their own lives and futures.
